Preparations for our departure to Costa Rica are underway already — we leave in just a few weeks! Oh man it feels great — I haven’t been out of Texas in a month and haven’t been abroad in nearly six months! Oh and before I go any further a ‘fuck you’ goes to the meth-head that robbed my old place — not only did you steal a nice passport full of stamps but it cost me as much as my plane ticket to San Jose just to replace my social security card, birth certificate, and passport (expedite fee is a bitch, $400). Anyway, I’m rambling now, sorry…

Despite having on 0.25% of the world’s landmass, Costa Rica is home to 5% of the world’s nature reserves.
So I’m really interested to see how the weather will treat us, being the wet season and all. The rainy season in the Philippines is nothing to fuck around with, but I think things should be a little safer there in Costa.. I suppose our only big concern is some of the roads going out…
In between now and our departure, we will be posting possible sites to see, excursions to take, places to sleep, and last but not least, places to eat and drink! You guys let me know what y’all think and I’ll let you know what I think.
(And to those of you who remember the last cpl times I disappeared to Asia, no worries, I’m not going to end up with a wife this time)
What’s Your Favorite City In Costa Rica?

Derek Freal is a cultural enthusiast and perpetual wanderer, as well as the founder of the HoliDaze travel community. He loves going locations where he does not speak a word of the local language and must communicate with hand gestures, as well as places where he is forced to squat awkwardly to poo (supposedly its healthier and more efficient). If you tell him he cannot go somewhere, well I guarantee that will be the next spot he visits. For more view Derek's bio or stalk him on the social sites below....
