04PM~ Back In Tokyo And It Feels Great!
OOkay back at Narita airport in Tokyo now. God it feels so fucking good to be back you cannot imagine. Both Jared and I feel as if we have just returned home. And I suppose in a sense we have. This place! I fucking love it! We fucking love it! Why should I ever go back to the states?
Oh man. So we are actually way behind schedule. It is 4pm local time and I had originally told Mayu we would meet her around 3pm. Our flight was supposed to arrive at 1pm, but combined with the hour and a half drive from the airport to Shibuya, Tokyo, I figured 3pm was good.
Well it was raining all morning in the Philippines so that delayed our departure. Lucky Jared passed out the second we got seated in the plane — he didn’t have to sit through our long wait on the runway. So far the only sour note to our travels. Well, that and the like 16 checks we had to go through to get out of PI.
The girls came with us on the 4hr van ride from Subic to Manila, which was a nice touch. We left at 3am so we were all drunk as shit from a good 10 hrs of beer-drinking and shot-taking. Hell I had myself quite a few Jacks as well, what can I say! But having the girls come with on the van back was a last minute surprise. A lil making out and then someone to lay down and sleep with. Can’t complain. ‘Course 4 or 5 separate times our van was stopped and searched by guards armed with the standard assault rifles. Jared slept through most of the stops. I kept thinking they would say something about the pile of empty beer bottles at my feet but they were cool with that. Drinking and driving totally flies down here. Actually, the only rule when driving is never drive without money — if you can’t pay they cops off then they will fuck with ya.
And once we got into the airport it was another dozen screenings and baggage searches. They made me throw out my shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a bunch of other shit from Tokyo because it was opened. But they let me take in my open water bottles, go figure. It was the exact opposite at Tokyo. The bathroom shit was fine, even opened, but any drinks of any type had to be trashed.
5PM~ First Night Back Fun!
But I digress — as I have a habit of doing — so let me get back on track. It is 4pm and our bus showed up a few minutes ago. That puts us hitting Tokyo around 5:30pm, which sucks because it will be dark already. Mayu took off work today and had all these plans for us but I kinda blew it. On the plus side, I did call her from Narita right after getting off the plane. She immediately answered the phone on the first right saying “Derek?” Oh my God nothing I have ever heard sounded as good as that did. I really hope she can get some time off work this week to make my staying around worthwhile. Otherwise, I mean if she will be working all day, what the fuck am I going to do? Be that guy on the couch? Wonder the city like a lost child? I would rather go out on a great note than make things weird or awkward.
Oh man she even has some herb ready and waiting for me too. God what a great girl! I hope we can figure things out. Hell, might have to just hit up Suzuki and see how quickly he can get me into that modeling job. Really want to live here FOREVER!!!
Mayu did have a fat joint of some stanky rolled for us when we returned. After taking our bags to her place we hit that guy and Jared and I were so lit we could barely function ha ha. We went out for sushi then while waiting for Yuka to get off work, then when she got stuck working late, we finished up and Mayu bought some beer on the walk back home. Before long Yuka had finished and joined us at their place, where she quickly finished the leftover sushi. But because we were all still hungry, the four of us went out to a Japanese-style restaurant/bar. After eating more there and washing it down with some beer and wine, Yuka had to call it a night — she had work at 7 in the morning. Jared was disappointed to say the least.
So Mayu and I decided to return to that little bar we met at on Drunkards Alley, Non. After a quick subway ride we were back. Good ol’ Yoshi was behind the bar as usual and definitely surprised to see us back. I don’t think he really believed me when I said we would return. I mean hell we went to that bar a good few dozen times the first couple months we were here, we really loved it, he should have known we would be returning at some point.
After too many tequila shots we stumbled to Club Atom somewhere around 2am. We kicked it off with another shot of tequila (hey, all the “ta-kill-ya” was Mayu’s idea, not mine). After a lot of dancing all the shots started to hit her and she began to get drunk, so I got us some water and we sat down. After sitting for awhile we decided it was time to leave, but I could not find Jared, so we just took the elevator downstairs to wait for him to come down.
It was not too long before he came out, having noticed our absence. After a quick taxi ride back to Ebisu, we returned home and Mayu set her alarm for 7am so I could get Jared up and off, then she and I went to bed.
10AM~ Jared Is Gone But I Am Still Here
Yep, that’s right, I gave Jared his ticket, money for his airport limousine to Narita, and the best directions I could. I woke up to the alarm and quickly got Jared off, eager to return to the warmth of the bed. It has started getting pretty chilly here in Tokyo already.
I am not going to say I am not a lil worried he might get a little lost or something but he got up early and got a head start just in case. Plus it is the same exact route we traveled last week we leaving Tokyo for PI, so the repetition should help make it easy. And everyone here is so nice, if he needs help he should be able to find it fairly easily. Still I only realized later I should have given him Mayu’s number, just in case. Oops too late now.
Mayu has to go into work for a few hrs this afternoon, so I am going to wander around the town I think. I have a couple unsecured networks picked up that I may be able to get on to post this, but if that does not work I need to find an internet cafe.
It still trips me out though. So far everything about this trip has been planned out real well, with nothing left to chance. Now however it is the exact opposite — nothing is planned, I am living for the moment, and I don’t even know where I’ll be living in Tokyo if things don’t work out with Mayu, since I don’t have my flat anymore. This is going to be interesting guys, very fucking interesting.
I am trying to stay well past new years now. Mayu has all these places she wants to take me, like this temple and one of the local hot springs, but she also has a full day of work tomorrow and I believe another full day Friday. Also Yoshi Suzuki, the guy who introduced me and Mayu (he actually to prefers to go by his last name, Suzuki, I had forgotten about that), will be back from Hong Kong on Friday night, and it would be good to see him again. But it really just depends on what the airline says. Wow is this going to be interesting ha ha…
Once again this may not have been the best idea financially — hell, honestly it is the complete worst idea ever financially — but its too late to change anything now.
Even if this was not the best idea, even if it kicks me in the ass and I have to pay for it by returning to the States, I will have built a better base here for when I return. Mayu too is excited about helping me to find a job modeling or something easy to start. And she wants to teach me Japanese too, so I told her I will help improve her English — which I think is pretty damn good, but she thinks is horrible.
Okay, here goes nothing….
